Before we tell you why we are so excited about the potential of the nickel-plated steel market, we need to clear up a common misconception—WE ARE NOT MAKING THE STEEL. We'll acquire steel from the major producers and then use our patent-pending process to nickel-plate it in a new state-of-the-art facility.

The demand for Electric Vehicles is climbing at a staggering rate. Each vehicle requires hundreds of batteries, each slightly larger than your normal D-size battery. In 2024, the NPS market is projected to be over 80,000 tons. Fast forward to 2030, and it is projected to be over 300,000 tons. Almost all of that increase will be covered by Project 2926's Phase I and Phase II capacity (200,000 tons in total).

Electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla and BMW are not only laser-focused on price and quality; they are using environmental metrics like carbon footprints as a critical factor in their buying decisions. Our new plant and those of our suppliers will have the lowest carbon footprint (89% lower) compared to other domestic and foreign producers.

We've coordinated with industry-leading EV manufacturers and battery makers to ensure our equipment capabilities will meet and exceed their requirements.

Our product development efforts are ongoing. The third round of internal trials was recently completed. Material samples and product data are already with two major industry EV and battery makers for evaluation.

Tesla-

Probability of thermal runaway is dangerously high with large pouch cells. Tesla strongly recommends against their use.

Lucid-

Lucid's choice of cylindrical lithium-ion cells comes down to thermal attributes and the consistency and reliability of the cells themselves, as well as their predictable cost on the market. It also means not being bound to the design constraints of larger cells.

Why ‌Cylindrical Batteries Used in EVs are Made with Nickel-Plated Steel

‌Highest Specific Energy
of all types
Lowest cell cost
A high degree of maturity
(product & process)
Very little swelling

Predictable venting
Good cooling & heat management
Highest degree of safety vs. pouch and prismatic cells
Consistency and reliability
of the cells
Fewer design constraints vs. larger cells.
